Excess is the amount that you will be liable for in case of accidental damage. This is standard practice with all car hire companies. A security deposit, normally equal to the excess amount, will be blocked on / taken from the main driver's payment card. This will be held for the duration of the rental and can take up to 7 working days to be released after the rental is completed. It may be possible to reduce the excess on the car by purchasing additional coverage from the car hire company at their counter or purchasing the excess cover products online during the booking process.
